23-hundred block of high ridge trail. they believe at least 7 people were involved in the fight. when police arrived, nobody was there, but they did find evidence consistent with a stabbing. they also found a loaded gun. if you know anything
about this, please call the fitchburg police department. happening today -- it's the first day of the trial for a former dane county deputy accused of killing his wife and sister- in-law . jury selection is
underway at this hour. andrew steele is charged in the deaths of ashlee steele and kacee tollefsboll. last august, fitchburg police responded to yarmouth greenway, for a
report of someone suffering from a gunshot wound. ashlee was found dead at the scene, and her sister, kacee was taken to the hospital, where she later died. friends of ashlee say they're still finding ways to cope with her death.
"the first months were extremely difficult. it was hard for us to talk about ... being really sad and remember what happened to her. but, as the year's gone on, it's easier to think about the fun times we had with her, rather than the way it
ended." steele pleaded guilty to the homicide charges, but says he is not responsible. the former deputy was diagnosed with a-l-s last june .... now - members of the jury will have to decide whether his
mental state played a role in the killings. in our continuing coverage -- the dane county sheriff's office is conducting a homicide investigation, after a body was found off of governor's island in madison this weekend.
so far we know that a fisherman found a body in lake mendota just after 4 p.m. saturday. the madison fire department and e-m-s crews were the first to arrive to the scene. officials have not released any further information. they
will be holding a news conference at 2 this afternoon, so be sure to watch our evening newscasts for the latest on this case. crews are still searching for a missing 5-year-old girl in richland county. it's day seven in the search for
angela girton in what authorities are now calling a recovery operation. she went missing last monday evening after falling into the wisconsin river. family members and friends in the small town of gotham - a community of less
than 200 people -- came together for angela saturday night. this saturday -- the family is planning a bake sale in dodgeville from nine until one. all money raised will go toward continued recovery efforts.
around the nation -- a tense situation at a community college in north carolina this morning. police are searching for a man who shot and killed a person in the campus library. police have put the college on lockdown, and are treating
the incident as an "active shooter" scene as they search for the suspect. photos from the scene show police allowing students to leave the campus with their hands raised in the air. no word if the person killed was a student at the college.
